What is the long-list in Executive Search and Recruiting?

The “longlist” is a list of names of potential candidates as a result of a high level search being performed by the Executive Search consultant. When looking for suitable candidates for filling a job vacancy, the headhunter identifies potential candidates through “Direct Search”, who match the defined search profile and puts them on the longlist. In the next step after the interviews he compiles the shortlist with candidates who are interested in applying for the presented vacancy and will be presented to the client.
